Tibet Longyuan Photovoltaic Station

China, Asia

CATL_edited.jpg

This project consists of four sites located in the Tibet Autonomous Region, specifically in Yangbajing Phase I and II (Lhasa), Shigatse, and Jiding. All sites are situated at elevations above 4,300 meters, where oxygen levels are only half that at sea level. The plateau climate presents harsh environmental conditions: average annual temperatures remain below 0°C, UV radiation is more than six times stronger than in inland areas, and the region experiences over 120 days per year of gale-force winds (above Level 8), along with eight months of frequent rain, snow, and hail.

Given these extreme environmental challenges, the project adopts a container-level fire protection strategy. This includes:

Container-based sprinkler systems

Fire sub-panels inside each energy storage container

A station-level master control panel for centralized monitoring and remote activation of the container fire systems

The high-altitude and low-oxygen environment places unique demands on the reliability and lifespan of gas detectors. To address this, the system has been specifically enhanced and optimized to meet the performance requirements under such conditions.

This project uses VSAIL's container-level fire alarm control panel, which has demonstrated stable and fault-free operation throughout deployment. The intelligent fire detection and suppression setup ensures timely and effective response to thermal or electrical fire hazards in the energy storage units, even under the extreme conditions of the Tibetan plateau.
